Henry Miller's Stone Forest

Glass skyscraper’s can reach
The moon is white
Concrete sidewalks embroider
The ground is both brown and covered under
Fallen leaves never touch
The black street tar grows hot and malleable
During the summer small yellow flowers emerge across
The floor of tile in the subway smells of
Urine from dark squirrels can never be detected except in each park’s most
Secluded areas include
High security fences protect
Every parking lot replaces
A potential meadow became too fertile and so became
A forest can not be protected
In highly urbanized areas
Public transportation is needed to get from one to
The other trees resemble
The first completely manmade habitat was maybe
The home
Of millions of
Animals and insects need access to soil in order
To live
In an apartment is to live between
Geometric walls climb up to the sky faster than weeds.
