Art in Istanbul...street and gallery
There is definitely a thriving art scene in Istanbul. It isn't huge, but it is present and will probably grow. The very upscale galleries are some of the most unfriendly and pretentious I have EVER been in. I guess they feel they have something to prove. On the other hand, the actual artists I met were interested, interesting, engaging, open, and generally down to earth.
